DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

Economics, as a discipline and as practised, at both the domestic and global levels has undergone considerable changes in the last half century. New paradigms and perspectives have emerged, making the study of the discipline challenging. Among the emerging issues are globalization, paradigms of development and poverty, modelling, forecasting and emerging capital markets. The focus of the Economics programme at the University of Cape Coast is to introduce students to these challenges and to equip them with skills that will enable them understand theoretical issues in the discipline as well as be able to formulate and implement research and contribute to the search for solutions to the problems of development.
